Current research trials enrolling patients are:
Anemia in Heart Failure Trial: This is a trial studying the efficacy of an erythropoietic protein drug (a drug that stimulates the bone marrow to produce more red blood cells) in patients with known heart failure and anemia. The potential participant must be anemic and have known heart failure to be included.
Congestive Heart Failure Trial: This is a trial comparing the effects of a known heart failure drug and a new longer acting formulation of that drug, on heart function. The potential participant must have newly diagnosed heart failure.
Peripheral Vascular Disease Trial: This is a trial for persons with pain in the legs when walking (intermittent claudication). It is designed to determine if a regular exercise program in association with the study drug will improve walking time. The potential participant cannot be an insulin dependent diabetic.
Carotid Stent Registry: This is a carotid stenting study for persons with carotid artery stenosis (blockage) at high risk for surgical intervention.
Metabolic Syndrome and Cardiovascular Risk Factor Trial: This is a trial designed to see if the study medication taken daily for 5 years will reduce the obese participants’ risk for heart attack, stroke and death.
Acute Coronary Syndrome: This is a trial designed to monitor outcomes of recurrent heart attack, stroke and bleeding when taking a known drug used for anticoagulation for a longer period of time prior to cardiac catheterization. This is for patients experiencing chest pain and are in the hospital.
Cholesterol/Lipid Management Trial: This is a trial designed to compare 2-marketed cholesterol-lowering drugs in patients immediately following a heart attack.
Diabetes Trial: This trial is designed to determine if adding a new type of oral hypoglycemic (glucose lowering) drug to a diabetic’s known therapy has the same effectiveness when compared to 2 known marketed oral hypoglycemic drugs.
Congestive Heart Failure Trial: This is a trial comparing the effects of a known heart failure drug and a new longer acting formulation of that drug, on heart function. The potential participant must have newly diagnosed heart failure.
